    Angry Powersounder / Alarm question...

Hi all, I have a 2002 Coupe Turbo and over the last few days my alarm has started going off randomly, (both the siren and the horn). I first thought it was just the sensors in the car but both the alarm and the horn still went off when I had disabled the sensors by pressing both the interior light switches before locking up.

So after a bit of searching on here it seems the powersounder battery could be the problem, only thing is I haven't had any beeping to show that the battery is failing, also if the powersounder is starting to fail then would it make the siren and the horn go off together??

Thanks for any help as this is really winding me up now.

Cheap, non-Thatcham alarms, just sound the car horn. By adding a siren and sounding both together, extra security is acheived because one will go off even if the other has failed - so it's normal for siren and horn to go off together. Hearing the beeps can be difficult, you may simply have missed them particularly if you didn't know what they were for.

I get powersounder battery failure every two years, regularly! I missed the beeps on the first one but learnt to recognise them after that.

Thanks mate... so do duff batteries in the powersounder cause both the horn and the siren to go off then? If so I'll order a replacement today.
    Cheers

I think my first one did that. The subsequent ones didn't as by then I knew what the beeps meant, so I got the powersounder changed before the batteries got that bad!

I think mine is going the same way, as I can't shut the alarms up. How do you change the batteries in the powersounder without the alarm sounding? and where is it?
Sorry to sound a bit lame, but not too techi.

Changed it with a new one from Vauxhall on Tuesday and the alarm hasn't gone off since

I do seem to remember hearing the four beeps now but it only did it once and was before Christmas... alarm only started going off last week.
