not happy - remus centre pipe

Got my Remus centre pipe fitted today and not altogether happy with the sound of it. It sounds OK at idle but at higher revs than about 2000 it starts to sound very raspy!

Now, I think this is due to the fact that it's currently paired to the standard back box but is anyone able to confirm this? If it is the reason then what actually causes it to rasp?

I plan on getting a new back box in the very near future anyway but if it continues to be raspy then I'll be tempted to put the standard pipe back on again.

what backbox have you got fitted to yours dannyboi? Do you mean it will bed in a bit or will I simply warm to it?! At least I should get a few more MPG as I'm embarrassed driving it at high revs at the mo lol!

ive gt an imerscher twin d back box mate, sounds like a proper car, it did sound raspy at first but now it has beded in it sounds awsome, not loud and not quiet, nice roar when you boot it

Its something to do with the soot building up in the pipe that changes the sound

I'd like the Irmscher one as I don't want a ridiculously loud setup and without hearing other types such as Scorpion or Magnex I don't know if it will be too loud for me. Obviously most of the sound is generated by the centre section, however it will be added to by the backbox.

The only thing with the Irmscher pipe is it's a bit more expensive than others, however if it gives the desired sound then I'd be prepared to pay for one. Hearing someone else's setup would definately be useful!

Cheers for all your comments btw

we had a remus middle pipe and irmscher back box on our mk4 sport and it sounded great for what it cost, but it did have a rasp to it, well worth it tho!!
