    tyre choice

    Hello,

I had a blister in my front tyre (got spare on ATM) and my back two also need replacing so im going to get a set of 4 off ebay (wasn’t to sure at first but after reading threads on here changed my mind !) My current size is 205/50/16 and I’ve been looking at these :

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/205-50-16-NANK...QQcmdZViewItem

    Are these any goods ?

    Would 205/55/16 Fit ?

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-205-55-16-...QQcmdZViewItem

    Thanks PPL

Yes they will fit, but the profile of the tyre will be much higher, meaning the side walls will flex much more when cornering and your handling won't be as good.

Bye bye VXR Castle Combe Edition - because it's done more laps of Castle Combe than most Bergs have of the Ring

I dont think it'll be much higher tbh. The width is still the same so its just:

    55% of 205 instead of 50% of 205

    205/50/16 - 102.5

    205/55/16 - 112.75

10mm difference in tyre wall height, dont think that would be noticable unless you raced on both tyres to find the difference. I know a few people who use a slightly higher section height as they dont like rubber band tyres.

However, yes Nangkang tyres are made with recycled condoms and earwax.

that calculation needs to be doubled as it refers to the radius of the tyre. As the tyre is taller at the top by 10.25mm and lower at the bottom by 10.25mm that's a big difference on the road
