    Dealer Prices

Just had the GSi in for a service at the local dealer & in addition they advised that all brake pads were 80% worn, the front discs needed replacing and they recommended that the rear discs be replaced with the pads to prevent "brake fade". Yeah right!
For the above they quoted £540.00 Robbing bar stewards!

Told em I would use the 20% left on the pads until the computer tells me they have reached the wear indicators and then get the work done else where. Just priced the parts from Brakes International near home and can get the lot for approx £120. Slip my mate £50 and jobs a good un

you could probs get a genuine set of GM gear for not much more.

Even better on trade club if u can get it.

Just shows why everyone calls em stealers!!!

Nothing short of theft and deception if u ask me.

Agreed, dealer prices are a complete rip off!

Its good that you can source the stuff yourself cheaper and get a mate to fit it, TBH your mate will probably do a better job and take more care with your car.

He works at BMW so knows his stuff. He's already done the biz on my 2.2 Astra. Now both cars are out of warranty I think I will get him to do the services as well.
Like you say he will take more care. Ive had past bad experiences at dealers - the worst being charged for a cam belt change & bearing kit on a 2.0 Sri at 40k miles but they didnt bother with the bearings which then seized 3 days later on the M1 & almost blew the engine

Yep, now my Zaf is out of warranty, I can't ever see it going back to a VX garage for anything. I've only had 1 decent experience with them ever.

High prices, average workmanship, rude and often dishonest staff, in fact, of all the different brand main dealers I have used over the years, my treatment and satisfaction with the 2 VX dealers I have used come bottom of the list.

seems to be a common problem amongst all vauxhall drivers in that the dealers are all a bunch of day light robbers !! and customer care is a joke ! prices that belong in a joke shop and shifty staff that actually think you are stupid ! love the brand but not the dealer/stealer 's
    1.6 16v zaffy getting there slowly ...............

yer dealers are a rip off.

tbh, i've always used a local garage for the past 20 odd years for MOTs and big jobs i can't do myself. This has backfired on me, because i've taken it for work to be done, and he'll give it me back and say 'i've not done such and such because you can do that yourself' and i've gone 'AARRRRR i can't be arsed etc'

But I have a keen young brother who helps me do stuff, well, he starts and i make the tea - slowly. He's just gone and bought him self a 1973 MGB - the lucky bugger. I have driven it now a few times and I WANT ONE.
