    16v valve or 8?

vx states 117mph for the 16v

i have had 138 on the speedo on a private track, but realistically that is probally closer to vx'x stated speed.

    not sure about the 8v

tbh it doesnt matter as it will take you so long to get to that speed and where can you do it apart from a track

thats a point..... it would take too long to get up to top speed plus probably would of had to stop as ran out of road

ah theres always the m25. thats just one big racecourse with a couple of cameras which take your picture for free.

The M1 which is close to me is perfect or the A1.

I think the cars an 8v, i should be getting it on monday. i need a car after writing my old mk3 off. what a pain in the bumper.
i read on a site (http://www.parkers.co.uk/) that the top speed was 112. Though i had a mk3 1.4i GLS which i got 117 out of which supposedly had a top speed of 112 and im sure it could have gone faster if i hadnt of entered bournemouth.

115-120 indicated, which could be anywhere between 103.5 and 132 actual speed, due to speedo inaccuracies, slope, wind, tyre pressures, tyre wear etc etc.

teejay, it was the speed stated, my next door neighbour was doing the same speed in his 1.8 Cav. This was on a flat surface, nice sunny day.

    Pointless thread, pointless replies.

Only on a track are you safely gonna get any Astra over 100, and even then that's unlikely in most. The car is simply too heavy to reach those kind of speeds. Look at the guys with CS3/4 or Phase3/4 who are around the 100 mark in a 1/4 drag. How many race tracks in Britain have anywhere near a 1/4 mile straight??

Why not ask, "what's the 30-70 time of a 1.6 8v Astra?" as that would provide a far more useful answer
