    Air-con compressor testing

    hi

my air con system is currently out of gas as i had to change a leaking hose and condensor. now before i take it to be re-gassed id like to test the operation of the compressor. is there any way of doing this without gas in the system?

ive tried measuring voltage at the plug for the compressor when the A/C is switched on, fans set to full speed and temp control set to cold but there doesnt seem to be any voltage there.

is there a pressure switch for the gas to stop you burning the pump out or something like that?

    cheers in advance

    gareth

just put 12V straight onto the compressor from the battery and the centre shaft was spinning, does this mean its ok? if so i pressume there is some sort of low pressure cut out on it?
