    temperature sensor location

    hi all!
i know the temp sensor for the digital display is located somewhere at the front of my engine bay, but i cannot for the life of me find where it is! Can anyone describe where it is, or (even better) show me a pic of where to find it?
Also, the reason i wanna find it is because i aint getting any readout on my display at all- is this common, are there any easy fixes for it, and worst case scenario, how much am i looking at for a new sensor?
    cheers,
    crusty

Theres quite a few on ebay at the mo http://search-desc.ebay.co.uk/search...&fsop=1&fsoo=1

open the bonnet and look down between the bumper and the radiator - in the centre youll see a harness going from the right hand side to the bumper - the sensor just unclips from the bumper and multi-plug

U say ur not getting a readout? Do u mean no temp readout or no readout at all?

If the sensor was faulted youd usually see a ridiculously high reading - if for instance u cant see the date/time etc then its obviously not gonna be the sensor and more than likely just be blown bulbs.

To eliminate a faulty display then turn ignition on and shine a torch onto the display - if the backlight aint working (ie blown bulbs) then youll be able to see the digits with the light from the torch

    hi
i dont get any temp reading at all! Thing is during the brief snowy spell a couple of months back, it started to work, but was showing readings of like -120 degrees and other wacky stuff! I take it its fecked then!
could it have been knackered when the courtenay intercooler was fitted?

well if its just the temp reading u dont get (ie the rest of the display lights up) then its almost certainly gonna be the sensor.

For a few quid u may as well get one and hopefully it'll fix ur probs

Obviously if a FMIC was fitted then this would suggest a possible cause - is the sensor still there? From what ur saying I would say the harness is probs just dangling and not plugged into anything.

Have a look where I said - ie the very centre of the inside of the bumper - youll see the clips that would hold the sensor - is it there?

Either way a replacement should be on the cards.
