    Z20LET Astra G Boost problems with EBC

    As most likely covered beofre in other posts (did a search but no luck), I'm trying to suss out a boost control prob...

    I have an Astra G SRi turbo with the Z20LET. The ECU has been re-flashed and now I have an Electronic Boost Controller fitted too...

    For the first time the other day I got an error code, strange thing the Traction control light came on not the ECU error light (little spanner). The car went into limp mode and pulled all the timing out of the car and started dumping fuel..

    Did some checking and if after 3 seperate run periods if the fault does not return the ECU automatically clears the code...It worked and the car went back to normal...But then it happened again when I was pushing the car hard....

    Now question is what is causing it?? Is it an overboost thing (too much boost in 2nd or 3rd which are the gears it happened in and I was thrashing the car both times) or a pinging problem or maybe something else???

    I can't read the ECU error codes as I don't have the right program.. But the fact its the traction control light and not the spanner light has got me confused...

    I've also got the VXR injectors and rail, LSD, OMP Clutch, dump and 2.5: exhaust and Apexi pod filter.

    Any ideas?

    Mine did this when the turbo to intercooler pipe developed a small split....??

    Have you tried changing the Air Flow Meter?

    Someone else suggested that...Would an AFM problem be intermitant like this???

    No one in Australia as far as I know has had an AFM prob yet...

    I might be the 1st.....Yeah.....NOT!!!!

    I'd have the AFM checked out. Common prob on the Z20LET.

    I had the inlet pipes off of the AFM on my coupe turbo the other week while trying to establish the standard re-circ DV....driving the car (not recommended) would pop up a EML Light and the TC light would come on and stay on.
    Putting the pipes back on sorted the problem....would be somewhere id agree with other people and get checked.

    my 1st thoughts were afm on iits way out but thinking more of the bost control now as the ecu cuts the boost as we know in 1st 2nd and 3rd but not so much in 3rd so thinking it could be a over boost and the ecu trying to cut it down but cant so throws on the light and limp home etc

    Thanks Jay, this is exactly what I thought it might have been...Now just neen to think of a way to stop it from happening...
