    whr is the EGR Valve? 2DTi

    Hi.

    I've got a 01 2L dti 4dr hatchback. i've got egr valve syntoms after checking these forums. but am unable to find the bloody thing. real basic question, but i carn't find it, and knowing my luck its staring at me right in the face.

    Could someone tell me where abouts it is please?

    found it, thats that bloody centre disk!!! they come in all shapes n sizes.

    See where the dipstick is? Look along right and there's a black cylinder with the grey plastic cap and two little rubber hoses going on to it (coppery coloured bends). That's the EGR. It's between the oil filter and the dipstick, you'll see the 4 wire going into the back of it, they're the ones that get in the way when chaging the oil filter.

    It's a total ******* to get off as you'll need to take out the air intake under the slam panel to get a long socket on an extension through from the front. Then the piping is really short so to get it out you'll need to detach those pipes which are part of the coolant system, so you'll have to refill and bleed that. Oh, and you'll be needing new seals around the EGR as well otherwise it'll leak and the engine will run like ass.

    that should fit yours, it says Y20 DTH so I'd assume you would be ok.

    slight hijack here, but can you confirm location of mine on my X20DTL please ZS? I believe its the cast valve at the front of the block (have to take off the engine cover).. If so, is it too difficult to clean? if its the bit I'm thinkin about it will be a piece of cake to take off... unlike the one you describe for the Y20DTH...
