Why are angel eyes light output crap?

Just thinking outloud here, but from what I have read... angel eyes are made from depo internals, yes? with the angel eye ring things "put in".

If that be the case, then shark eyes, in particular the H7 fitments ones, wont the light output be as crap? And in anycase need HID's to make the most of them? As they both are projector lenses?

Or have I got this totally wrong? And it is to do with the beam pattern and thus inside the light unit itself?

I rememeber having shark eyes on my last astra, and the beam seemed more "spread out", I then upgraded to HID's soon after, so didnt think too much about it.

What else do you guys reckon?

Angels should be fitted with HIDs. Problem solved.

My Corsa had factory fit prjector style lights, and they were rubbish too.

I think it is because the back of the projector units doesn't reflect light well enough. If you leave the lights on and open the bonnet, you will see a lot of light leakage at the back, which should really have been reflected back to the front like all OE units.

And also, if have even opened up one of the projector units, you will see half the light is blocked by a metal plate (which defines the beam pattern). If this metal plate was chrome-plated to reflect light, I bet the light output will be much improved.

    That's my theory.
