    help on interior light/dead locking

Hi, wondering if someone can help me out here as I'm totally stuck!

The electrics in my astra mk4 have suddenly stopped working properly. When I lock the car, the first press of the key locks the car ok. However, pressing the key a second time does nothing.

Also, the interior light has stopped coming on when the doors are open but still works if turned on by the light switch.

Also, when the headlights are on and the drivers door is open, it has stopped making the warning sound.

I have just recently replaced the interior light. Could this have caused the faults?

sounds to me like its not seeing the drivers door switch, do the interior lights come on when any other door is opened? i.e passenger also check the drivers door pin switch is actually coming out when the door is open. when the door is open push the switch in and out to see if it moves freely.

i just went out and checked and the interior light does come on when the passenger door is opened.

So will a new door switch on the drivers side fix the problems?

sounds like it mate, undo the screw, think its torx, make sure its earthing properly (earths through the screw) remove the switch and make sure the connections on the back are ok! if everythings seems good then id replace the switch!

Yep sounds like a drivers door pin switch fault

If the car doesn't see the door open after the keys are removed it will think yor still in it and won't let you deadlock it
