    Accelaration

Do people think their cars accelarate quicker if you progressively give it throttle, or if you just floor it?

In first or second flooring it always seems to do the trick, but sometimes in fourth it feels quicker if you add throttle as the revs increase.

    What do people think?

Effectivly it should compensate to stop it from flooding but I feel the acceleration is better if done progressivly. But in the 1.6 its almost a button slow / a bit faster.
    Its a jam thing

i would think it should be quicker with the throttle fully open, due to extra air so more fuel, bigger bang? but it does seem to favour the progression.

it depends on the throttle system to some extent

Cable throttles will open at the same speed you presses the pedal down, since it has a direct mechanical linkage. Where as the electronic throttles will much slower if the pedal is stamped on - pop the feed pipe off and try it (engine off tho)

but feeding in the throttle is generally best either way

the resons for feeling that you accelarate faster is becouse you are still moveing your foot forward thus subconsiously making you feel like you are going faster

i doubt it cuz the movement of the foot is very slow, as in time with revs, only noticeable lower down in the range. could be a possibility i guess.

    what do other people think?

I have noticed this too, my car pulls better about half way to 3/4 way down in 3rd, 4th and 5th. all the way gives less reasonable results

    in the rs6 me i found a way to beat audi's 0 to 60
hold the car on the brake then rev it to about 3k then take food off brake dam you would get whiplash doing that

in the astra me get it moving in 1st then go for it in 2nd an 3rd same for zaffy
