    Dump Valve. Worth it?

    thinking of putting a dump valve on my mk4 gsi but iv heard aftermarket dump valves can cause probs with this engine.
    Anybody had any bother?

    Some will say they've had problems and some wont......... personally I find that mine runs better with the aftermarket dump valve

    Yes. The problem is the 'dumping'

    The standard turbo relies on the air being recirculated so if you dump the excess boost then it confuses the car and it doesn't run very well.

    Your best option is to get a cone filter (APEXI for example) - this will make the standard recirc valve louder.

    This is just my opinion though, a lot of people have D/V's on their car with no problems at all.

    Cone filters themselves don't blow AFM's it's the oiling of them that does - although they are delicate sensors at best.

    Imo - ditch the dv - they are more trouble than they are worth.

    Hence why I said APEXI - it is not oiled so is unlikely to kill the AFM...

    Ive had no probs with mine, but probably taking it off around Sept. Just got it as it was a novelty because I got a new car. Wish I hadn't put it on in the first place.

    i've had mine over a year now with a piper x cone filter and a baileys D/V and had no problems with either
