    Wheel size?

Hi all, new on here and new to Astra's!

Have an 02, 2.2 SRi, 3dr in black.

What i'd like to know from you guys is what size of rims can i squeeze into the arches without having to modify them? May be lowering it soon, prob around 40-50mm (unless it looks ok with the new wheels!). Thought it best to ask the people who'd give me a correct answer before I go lookin!Full kit and engine mods to follow.

    Any help'd be great.

Porbably looking at 17's mate if you're going for a drop that low, but you may still get some rear arch rubbing, if you got weight in the back for example. If you go for 17's, you'll definately need to lower it unless you want an astra monster truck.
A drop that low you're gonna want to look at replacing the shocks for uprated items or better still go for some coilovers. Steve at LMF will be able to sort out the best parts for ya.

    Great help, thanks guys.
Currently of work with a broken wrist, polished it (the car!) one handed y'day! Got a good idea on how I want it to look, it's just gonna take a few quid to get it there.

also depends on the tyre you are using

what kind of roads do you drive on are they good or bad if you have 18"s with a 215/35 profile tyre on coilovers its gona hurt alot if you live around bad roads

my old astra was lowered 35mm on koni shocks and springs, with 17s with 215/45 tyres and these rubed on the back arches, becouse the roads around me are crap but that extra bit of tyre ment that it was not all that bad,

also before those I used to have 18"s without it being lowered on 215/35 tyres and the did not rub and it was abit worse on comfort il get some pics up soon

Stick to the proven tyre size and rim width & offsets and you'll be perfectly fine lowering 50mm.

    17s - fit 215/40/17 (or 215/45/17 if u want a little more comfort & rim protection)
7 or 7.5" wide with offset of 38-49mm

    18s - fit 215/35/18 and 7 or 7.5" rim with 38-49mm offset

If u want wide rims ie 8" then youd need offset of 45-49mm and thats for both 17 and 18" rims. Unfortunately though, a drop of 40mm is basically ur limit on this setup without arch mods.

    Hope this helps.

    Any more Qs just shout.
