    Mazda RX-7 Opinions...

    Hi,

Iím seriously considering buying a 3rd Gen RX-7. My girlfriend has just changed jobs and no longer needs her car and weíve decided to pool both cars together to buy a sporty car, an RX-7 has always been a dream of mine and it seems a logical choice. Ive had the fortune to drive an RX7 as a colleague has one and although I didnít boot it ive never felt so in control of a car, this test drive has sealed the deal as far as Iím concerned.

Does anyone have any experience with them? I know rebiulds can be an issue, but providing I can get 6.5k for my SRi-T I should have about a 9k budget which I hope should get me one with low enough miles not too need a rebuild for a while. Has anyone here actually owned one?

    Phil.

I've heard from an RX7 owner that these cars could be quite dangerous in the wet. You have the concentrate all the time even when going slow.

Engines last to not much over 50k and aren't they in the higher road tax bracket as well??

Great cars but they do have their problems.

I would never buy one as a daily driver. too many potential problems. what if it ends up being off the road often, what would you do for transport? can you afford to run it that much really, and do other things? the noise they pump out etc would do my head in eventually, but i am up and down the motorway a fair bit.

I would love one as a second car though. they have tons of presence. I always liked them, but then had a sniff around one in the flesh and it looks like such a weapon. I'd certainly shift over for one on the motorway.
