    your idea's please..

    hello to you all,

right, im getting a sri-t rear bumper apron. just love the look!

but the situation is that i have a few dents in my tail gate, rather than getting repaired i was thinking to get my whole tailgate smoothed!

then arises the problem of where to put my number plate...? any idea's?

i must admit i not a fan of flushed tailgates, but it is your car and it is your decision. we have probably all done something to our little babys that others dont like. just follow your heart and bank balance all the way

you could get a square one and mount it on the corner of the bumper? think that would look quite nice if done properly.

flushed tailgates can look good sometimes, depends on the colour etc, yours is red if i remember correctly, imo it'l look cool. but i'd get a few photoshops done first m8 to see if its to your taste.

other than that, would you be gettin it flushed using a blanking plate or filler?????

the blanking plate will imo be better because most fillers do tend to crack at time, also dont forget to move the number plate light

Have a look at this thread, best way is to get a plastic recess and have that smoothed into the bumper.

IMO a square plate looks horrible, and i'd get the smoothing done properly with a metal plate welded on over the number plate recess.

I would personally just get another red boot lid from a scrappies, flushed boot lids imo dont look good on a mk4 as the rear is too chunky plus no matter where you will relocate the number plate complete with a number plate light it will look naff

IMO this doesn't look naff. you don't need to be able to see a number plate light. A couple of LEDs in the top of the recess should give enough light to pass an MOT.

Using a spare boot lid is a good idea, as long as you have somewhere to store your original.

i dont think the square plate in the corner is an option as it looks a bit off IMO.

ill be getting a complete blanking plate. im a professional welder and fabricator so peice of p**s for me.

and as for all the work of fillering and painting etc isnt a problem, as i work next door to a bodyshop and gives me cheap discount as it is so...

its just where to put it.

that last pic with it in the bumper is nice...
