    Centre silencer removed

    Hi all,

A mate has told me i can get my centre silencer removed (powerflow/top gear in watford i think)

Basically what i want to know is, will this effectively turn it into a straight through pipe like the remus?

And will they remove the whole sort of silencer box? Cause it hangs an inch or two lower than everything else on my car

Its a Scorpion Monza Cat Back

    Cheers,

    nick

YES - it'll effectively make it a straight thru pipe.

They'll remove the entire silencer and fit a straight piece of tube in its place so there'll be no nail biting moments when u approach those dreaded speed bumps!

Nice one, cheers, i know it'll make it louder, but it shouldn't make it unbearably loud should it? And going by other posts the straight through makes a raspy noise, which is what i want..

Any idea on the price i should be paying for something like this?

Yeah it shouldnt be overly loud. Its a nice loud anyway if u get me!

Nothing chavvy at all - just what an exhaust should sound like.

No idea on price Im afraid but in all honesty it should only cost about £20 or so. Try to catch them in their dinner and slip em some beer money etc.

If its gonna cost more then it maybe worthwhile considering selling the centre section and buyin a genuine straight thru pipe. May be able to cover most if not all of the cost providing the Scorpion is in good nick.

Cant see it costing more than about £20 - might even be less if u let em keep the silencer they remove - could even use it in another application

mine cost £80 mate, but they made a whole new pipe from cat to back box also had a scorpion, sounds lush now mate, pops and burbles on deceleration. I would recommend having what i had and the pipe made narrower either 2" or 2.25".

The scorpion are 2.5" much too big for a NA car, running low power, I now notice how much torque it was losing.

Would it be easier just getting a remus centre section then? what diameter are they and would they fit the scorpion? Not too sure about the join..

Ive had differing advice on that mate, on here people said it could but would be difficult, so easier to get a custom one.

Steve from LMF said it would fit, but in anycase the guys at powerflow could easily mate them.

Personally would go for the powerflow, you can have whatever diameter and a nice shiney stainless steel pipe!!

Ok then, will get on the phone to powerflow then!

Am i right in thinking that the 2" would be slightly better performance wise, but also louder?

Would the 2.25" be quieter? I doubt the performance difference would really be noticeable in a 1.6?

    Cheers,
    nick

nah the bigger the diameter pipe u get the louder it gets and it will give out the burble sound , its up to u at the end ,if you replacing the mid silencer box its goin to be too loud for the neighbourhood :P
