    Key Resussertaion

A while ago my keyfob was playing up, i took it to my local vauxall dealer and they quoted me nearly £100 for a new one, no thankyou! i'll just live with one i thought, after reading a few articles around different forums i took my key apart and all that is wrong with it is that the battery holder needs resoldering which i am going to do 2morrow.
I read this on another forum which apparently you can do if your key has lost its settings due to the battery being out,

"IIRC, put key in ignition, turn to postion 2 (but don't start engine), press lock/unlock buttons on fob. Central locking should respond. Hey presto, key fob programmed"

Does anybody know if this works?

If your lazy (like me) you can just fill the inside of the key with cardboard to hold the contacts together to save soldering it. Both my keys are like this and work perfectly.
