Usual names to consider: K&N, Pipercross, ITG, etc etc etc

Courtenay have a foam one that comes in at £34.95 and is highly rated http://www.courtenaysport.co.uk/default.htm?page=87

ITG is more than £50, but well worth the extra

Are the ones available at courtney direct replacement? Also what sort of gains would be seen realistically? If anything?

    courtenay are rebadged piperX ones

You'll see a couple of bhp gain if your lucky, but the piont of a decent filter is to maintain flow as they get shitted up, rather than restrict like an OE paper one

Yes I didn't fancy an induction kit as I don't want the noise of it, plus some cheap ones can if anything hinder the performancs esp in summer due to heat soak.

On the 2.2 is the airbox easy to get to? Sorry I have not had the car long & haven't had much chance to get into the bay yet.

Yeah it's dead easy to get at - just unclip one vent pipe from round the edge, undo one jubilee clip, and then a few torx screws and off comes the lid

Just don't do the torx screws up too tight or you'll shag the threads in the lower half, like I did. But mine's now bolted closed as I never have to open it again

i've fitted replacement filter on my 2.0 Diesel, and have derestricted the airbox as well.. going to make custom intake (Veccy C is too common LOL).

Even with what I've done, and on my smokey old dismal it makes a bit of a difference - and thats not just my opinion even a mate noticed it, but then again freeing up 3-4bhp is nearly a 5% power gain for me
    NOW - Sapphire Black 3dr Astra G

    THEN - Glacier White 2.0Di Estate - 136bhp 1.6 Pineapple Yellow Mk3 - Flame Red 2.0Di Van - Chianti Red 1.8 Coupe - Star Silver 2.2 Zafira - Flame Red 2.2 Linea Rossa Coupe - Titan Gold 1.8 Coupe
