    Im not happy today!

Im feeling very sad today My bank is lookin very poor atm cos i had a bill for £1004 yesterday at vauxhall.
I had a very bad feeling about taking it there on friday 13th! I only went for a full service & mot!
But unfortunately it failed the mot for the front tyres been very bald & the passenger side tyre had a bad split in it! And it failed for the rear number plate & front fog light bulbs, and the water pump was broken! Also it needed a new camshaft sensor fitting & it had to go on the tech 2 cos the traction control & abs lights kept coming on!
I can't believe it cost me £1004! £400 woz for labour
Ive got to go back again next week for a new expansion tank fitting, i hope thats not gonna cost me too much!!
After i had payed the huge bill i went into the car park to find my car, and they'd taken my front bumper off to fit the new fog light bulbs.
I went to look at it & it was hanging off big time at both sides
So i went back into the reception and complained.
By this time it was 6pm so they had to open up the metal gates & garage again to fix the bumper back on! I still don't think it fits right, but when i go back nxt week for the expansion tank fitting, im gonna ask them to fit the front bumper back on again so its straight & with some new clips!

Ye unfortunately it must have had 6 hours labour
I didn't believe them at first, but the manager showed me the mechanics time sheet & it said that he started workin on my car at 10am & finished at 5pm with 1 hour for his lunch.
My car is a 2001 astra coupe turbo, and its done 61,000 miles.
Hopefully it should run ok now for a few months!

Why would you need a new expansion tank? I'd also like to know how they knew the water pump had failed. If they fitted a new one did they fit a new cambelt kit at the same time?

If you need a new expansion tank let me know, I have my old one lying around somewhere and it's about 30 mins to change, pretty easy really.

the only reason to change an expansion tank is if its cracked and leeking?

just have a look your self and if it aint then i wouldnt go back and it wouldnt of passed mot if it was leeking that badly!

Yikes, had my car MOT's today and passed with 2 new tyres, then had my tracking done as it was well out, car now goes in straight line but above 60mph the traction control starts to go a bit made, been told i need to take it to Vauxhall to have full geometry check done on it, can see that being expensive

Also my car had trouble getting onto the ramps for the MOT and now have a nice chunk of paint missing from my splitter , but couldn't really complain about it as the garage said they could have failed me there and then for it being too low!

That sounds like rubbish to me mate.

sounds like theyre fobbing you off for damaging it...

i cant see anywhere on the checks where the ride height comes into play.

thats a hell of a lot for a service, a private garage would have done it much cheaper

    WOW thats one expensive service...

As dave said, preventative maintenance would be a good plan from now on..
