In front of the radiator there is a little nipple type thing (left hand side) but as far as I'm aware, that's just for gassing it up...

You don't put it anywhere near the bonnet on an Astra (unless you want to put deodoriser inside the system, which would seem pretty pointless to me).

Personally, I'd put the aircon on recycle mode, fan on full, and spray the deodoriser under the gap below the glovebox.

zs your dead right if you put it in any of the pipework you will totally knacker the system as it is a liquid and the air con compressor can only compress the gas it`s a complex matter but that's whit a do for a livin not intirely sure where in the cabn but it defo does not go anywhere near the engine bay

That's the way to do it! Grab a can of Glen20 (or similar) from your local supermarket, air-cond on recycle with fan on full, and spray up under the glovebox where the air is drawn back in through the system and through the pollen filter.

If you want to get really thorough, remove the glovebox, then the pollen filter can be removed. It's probably black as . . .
Spray the new filter with Glen20, replace it, replace the glovebox and then your car will smell reasonably pleasant for a few weeks.
Then the old gym-sock smell returns . . . worse if you are a smoker!
