    Timing Belt

What kinda costs are involved in getting the timing belt changed for a Z16XE engine?

My mileage is sitting at 39,000, and when my Dad had an astra he got his changed at 40,000 as I believe that is the recommendation. Just trying to figure out if it would be worth waiting until I get my Vauxhall Trade Club discount from here.

Defo wait till u get the discount for the parts - you should save quite a bit. Saying that you can often get a bargain timing belt kit on ebay (Genuine GM of course) so it may be worth looking into.
I'll have a look see if I can see any for ur engine.

Whatever work I get done on mine I always provide the parts myself due to getting trade - so just pay for labour.

Go to a local independent garage and it should only set u back about £200 max (labour only)

EDIT: Forgot to mention its worthwhile getting the waterpump changed at the same time

Heres the kit for ur car (Part number 93185845) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Timin...QQcmdZViewItem

Water Pump is Part number 9192797 or 93182038 (depending on engine number) - pattern parts can be bought on ebay for approx £20 whereas a genuine one is usually approx £50+

Might be worth calling Vauxhall to enquire about trade prices on the above part numbers - just so u get an idea compare to what eBay are selling em for.

Do you get Trade Discount on labour or just parts?

Buy a genuine GM cambelt kit + water pump from AutoVaux and have it fitted by a good local independent, it'll work out cheaper.

if you go to vauxhall for a timing belt kit and water pump expect to pay close to £300 fitted.

Buying the parts from the likes of autovaux and getting a local independant garage to fit them should easily cost under £200.

timing belt kit, waterpump and aux drive belt for an X20XEV were £122inc VAT on Trade Club when I did mine in Dec.

Parts only are about £170-180 for those things from Vx without trade club - so def worth the saving!!!
