    Question Drum Brake Replacement

    Hi all

I have an Astra Mk4 SXi 1.6 16v and I am wanting to uprate the brakes.

Can the drums at the back be changed to Disc fairly easily or is it an expensive and timely change?

Also what brand of brakes would you suggest?

    cheers

    George

its a fairly straight forward task providing u can get access to a donor car with 4 stud rear discs.

apart from hubs - discs calipers pads etc - you'll need a new handbrake cable - its been covered quite a few times in the past and something ive always been meanin to do but never have.

either do a search for "rear discs" or similar and you should get the info u need - - - either that or wait for some better replies from ppl who have done this mod themselves.

A few have - so dont worry!

    * A conversion that a lot of ppl do is from 4 stud to 5 stud as more 5stud rear disc cars about - also bigger fronts will be achieved (288/308mm as opposed to 256mm on 4 stud models) but youll have the added headache of needing new wheels for the 5stud issue....just something to think about if ur feeling particularly flush
