    Thumbs Up Hiding my amp

    Hi,

I want to put an amp in the boot of my mk4 astra, to power either new components or a set of 6x9's, but am not sure where to put it.

I use my boot alot, and it is often full so need to "hide" the amp so to speek. Was thinkin of maybe installing a raised floor, or installing a side panel and placing the amp behind that.

Anyone done anything like this before? which would be best? and any tips?

    Thanks

    Tom

    My old install...flase floor:

Thanks to ImageShack for Free Image Hosting

Easy done just two batons to raise the floor (size 2x2 runnning across the boot)
Then cut out MDF using the carpet as a rough template.

i know its not specific to your car but I have work in progress shots of creating the false floor to my mk4 Estate boot build... I can't post them just yet as Photobucket seems to be undergoing maintenance but I will edit this post to show them asap.. a false floor is easy enough to do, just make sure if u r going to sit the amp underneath it that u have enough ventilation to let enough cold air in to keep it cool, and to tkae the warm air away...

    Thanks guys,

Both ideas tempt me as i want to make it a sort of stealth build.

not entirely sure which style i will go for in the end but will post pics if i remember.

    Thanks again.

If you do make a false floor to hide it under make sure you let it have some air movement around it, maybe a fan somewhere

i made a false floor over the weekend, not the best looking, but with the carpet on top and the wood firm, does the job nice 4 me and only cost about 15 quid!!!
