DVD Head Units and 7" Screen...

I have a spare centre console to play with and am thinking about having a go flushing in a 7" screen

I see that many have used the lilliput touchscreen but I don't intend on attaching a car pc...its just for ps2/dvds, so the touch bit won't be needed...any recommendation on a screen to use?

Also, is there a good quality head unit that will play dvds direct? or will i just have to play them from the ps2?

Quite a choice of H/U's about, Alpine have one for £350, or £699 depends how "good quality" you want. Cheaper brands available.

Plenty of 7" screens on ebay although most of them seem to be touch screens. But there are some cheaper ones on there.

problem is i really like my pioneer 8600mp...yet to see a HU that i like better in the range...thinking about it i'd rather have to reach over to the glovebox to load a dvd than fork out that much for a dvd capable HU

i've seen lots of touch screens but thought maybe i could save a few quid by buying a normal screen

depending on where u want ur screen, y not get a simple black DIN size player for the lower DIN slot, running its audio output into the Aux-in on ur Pioneer, that way your Pioneer would obviously still control the sound.. all u then gotta do is run the video output on the DVD to the screen (wherever u wanna put that) and roberts ya mothers brother!

putting plain black DVD in lower slot will b as discreet as u can get it without hiding it anywhere

There are cheaper options mate, sony do one for just over £200, JVC have loads varying in price.

Ive got my PS2 in the glovebox and its easier to stick DVDs in there then it is to keep taking cd's out the H/U

thing is i wanna put a 7" flush screen at the top...like this...

and keep my pioneer at the bottom existing din slot...so no room for a dvd single din unit unless it goes in the glove...or just use my ps2

only problem i have now is choosing a screen

how about buying a JVC dvd h/u could solve the issue

i am running one with a 3.5" screen. you could then run a main screen off this in to the section you want a larger screen. two screens running may look at tad odd but pretty neat

Works great as normal monitor as its high res for the PC
