    ESP / TC light

    coming home from work just now my esp / tc light whatever it is just came on and stayed on (didnt even get twitchy or anything requiring either tc or esp) turned engine off and on again and it cleared, but just wondering what could the cause of this be / anything to look out for

    Theres quite a few things it could be. I'd probably say AMF (Air Flow Meter. However theres only 1 real way to find out for sure. Get into your local garage and ask them to read the fault code stored in the ECU. This will pinpoint exactly where it picked up the error from.

    will plug ye old laptop and odb reader in later n see what we see.


    ESP light comes on for any number of problems then?, would of thought it would be engine management light for afm....

    how on earth could it be the AFM?? what relevance does that have to which way the wheels are pointing and travelling? it was just a glitch. nothing to worry about.

    lol so the air flow meter failing, could cause problems with ESP TC? But how? I have heard that they go alot, (ive been very lucky having never needed to change one, even with my phase 1 software) but i would have bet a million squids that it could never cause problems within other systems. still every days a learing day. On tues i learnt not to wash my car with fairy liquid anymore! lol

    I had a problem with that about 6 months ago, which I put down to engine bay temps on the AFM when I was experimenting with different air filter setups. It went off again though, and no fault codes came up. AFAIK the car's still on it's original AFM, if that's the case it's done 45k miles...
