there was one. I remember them taking the p*** about VX brining back the turbo badge. I think they compared it to the Celica 190.

I havn't seen a top gear review of the coupe turbo, but if they did one I can imagine Clarkson ripping it to shreds simply because its a Vauxhall.

He creams his pants over every comparible model Ford make.

If it was reviewed on the Top Gear TV programme it would have been before the re-launch with Clarkson.

Anyway, Clarkson didn't criticise the astra, vectra and corsa 'because they were vauxhalls'. He hated them because he felt they were dull - no passion, no excitement.

Since then he's been very positive about the Monaro, VX220 and the Astra Sport hatch. They all wear the Vauxhall badge too, but he still praised them because he actually felt they were interesting

Or because the Monaro is actually a Holden, the VX220 is just a Lotus Elise in a new frock and the Astra Sport hatch ... well apart from the VXR I cant remember him having much to say.

True, the Monaro and VX220 aren't really vauxhalls (though there are more differences between the elise and the vx220 than just the body shell), but the point is he didn't dismiss them just because of the badges on them.

As for Clarkson on the sport hatch:

"If Aston Martin were to make a small three-door hatchback, it would look like this"

Exactly, the monaro is a 6.0 V8 - who wouldn't like it (except greenpeace and other tree huggers), and the VX220 is a quick 2 seater.

From memory he seemed to prefer the focus over the VXR (Astra)?

Wouldn't be suprised if he did. And so what? General press opinion seems to be that the Focus is the better car, just as they thought the old Focus was a better car than the old Astra.

Personally I'd choose an astra over a focus any day of the week because of my own personal preference for the styling, but that doesn't make the astra the better car

Anyway, back to the topic - tried YouTube or Google video for the vid?

I have looked on youtube and google. Lots of vids for the coupe turbo but not the one I was after. It was on the old style TG, may have even been Tiff who drove it, I remember seeing it so do the lads at work, comparing it to a Celica I think. Such a long time ago tho.
