wot was the point GRRRRR. wing mirror help needed!!

some B**tard of a child kicked both of my wing mirrors off yesterday night, luckily only the plastic casing came off the drivers side, but the passenger side was hanging off!! all i need to do to put it back on is compress the spring, and push the cap thing back on. dont know if anyone knows wot i'm on about (will put picks up when i get chance). but anyway, just want to no if it is possible to compress the spring by hand of would i need some sort of tool? or should i just cut my losses and buy a new mirror??

You should be able to put it back on by hand.

Sorry but buy a new mirror, I took a drivers side coupe mirror apart just out of curiousity, I removed the spring and the clip which holds it in place, it was extremely difficult to remove. If yours has seperated it's very likely the clip has sheared off part of the pillar it mounts on. I tried and couldn't get the mirror back together again, even with a vice.

Hatch or coupe BTW as the mounts are diffirent, also elec or manual?

It is possible to put the spring back in the mirror, but you need a flypress and your more than likely going to damage the plastic casing.

Not worth doing if you has access to the tools.

Get on eBay and get searching, but don't buy Vauxhall copys as they're low quality.
