I'm groggy from paint fumes, have gotten a cold and swore a lot over the weekend, here's why......
Friday 11:00 - purchased centre console from a scrappy down walsall way
Friday 16:00 - began sanding the bugger down with soem 240 wet/dry sandpaper
Saturday 11:00 - think I'm finished with the console and other parts I bought from VX a few days earlier.
Saturday 11:30 - Time to put on a coat of primer........
Saturday 12:00 - Swearing a lot cos the primer has bubbled and run as I had massively under-prepared,
gave up cos I had a Faithless gig to go to...
Sunday 13:00 - After staying up til 5:00am to watch the whole Australian GP I awoke and began trying to salvage as much as possible
Sunday 15:00 - applied another coat of primer this time with a higher rate of sucess.
Monday 10:00 - was supposed to be going to Alton Towers today but feeling a bit crappy and weather's terrible so I'll get on with the console. After sanding down with 1200 w/d I applied a base colour
Sunday 16:00 - Mad base colour eh? Well time to put the 'laquer' on
Sunday 19:00 - Here's the final finish. The idea was that under normal light it would look shiny and black much like Vauxhalls new 'piano black' effect but under flash it would show up the red. However in getting the black finish the red is not visible through the laquer. Never mind. Just a polish to go and I should have a nice shiny centre console.
