    a bright idea..

    hey all,

want a bit of conformation on a few things, and a few thoughts of it...

i like the look of half leather interior, sporty yet elegant, as for complete leather is just over the top...

so the idea i have had is...

take a look at this vectra half leather interior, rather subtle and nice, and the seats are pretty much the same as astra's if not the same!

yet i have a 3 door, so was thnking, i could take the covers off the vectra seats and fit to my seats, just make a hole for the seats handle to enter the back?

    thats a vectra interior...

yeh i could just throw the rear in no problem, and the front the same, if i have doors at the back, but as i have a 3dr hatch (as stated) then it wont have the levers to pull the front seats forward to get the rear passengers in..

but i know with a bit of hassle you can take the covers off the front seats, so i was thinking of doing that with the vexctra seats and putting over the astra frame...

you'd have to mod the rear seat base as astras's aren't two part ones

oh yeh i see what you meen geoff.

but due to these being out of a 5 door, when squeezed into a 3 door the actual panel might hold it one peice?

    worth a try...

as for the front seats, i have already removed the cover on the passenger side and refitted it, used nothing but tin snips lol :P

If the base of the rear seat is not secure, I don't mean squeezed together, then you are endangering the lives on any one sitting on it.

Do the job properly, you may live to regret it if not.

IIRC the mounting point on the vectra are are different - it has 4 metal pivot pins (2 per section) whereas the Astra only has two bent wire ones.

The only proper way to do this it to remove the Vectra cover, get the 2 halves sown together and refit it to the Astra base.

as Keith says - just squeezing it in there is dangerous

Why not get some Recaros from a Vectra B GSi like I have....unlike the ones you've been looking at - these come with a nifty little handle for rear seat access.....I often use mine to tilt forward even tho I do have 5 door and sometimes cant be bothered opening the back ones!!!

Heres mine (altho a naff pic) :
