    Total Closure wiring......

    hi

ive finally got all my central locking working again after having a slight technical glitch when testing wires on my central locking module, and now im lookiking to fit the total closure module.

ive read the how to on fitting it, but i want to make sure ive got the correct wires as i dont really want to shell out 200 quid for a new central locking module again!

first of all, the how to states there should be a blue wire with a black stripe, now i think ive found this wire, but i would say it is a black wire with a blue stripe? is this the correct one?

next i cant find a brown wire with black stripe but have found a red wire with yellow stripe, however again the how to states a yellow wire with red stripe, is this the right one?

the power and ground wires im ok with, they are pretty obvious.

if someone could just confirm the other two wires are correct id be most grateful, i really dont wanna fry another module!

    cheers
    gareth

Right the wire to turn the unit on will be a Black with a Blue stripe like you say, do yourself a favour though and test it with a multimeter or test light so that when you deadlock the car this wire should pulse live for 1 - 2 seconds

The second wire will be in my experience a Brown with a Black stripe on a coupe and a Red with a Yellow strip on a hatch. Again you can test this wire but holding the key in the lock postion so that the windows are going up and the wire should go to earth

Finally all the total clousre units are different using different wire colours so check with the instructions for that unit. With 5 wires I suspect you will have the option to stop the windows if you unlock the car again before they reach the top

    cheers mate

okay so far then ive got

    Red 1 - Permenant live
    Black - Ground

    Blue - Black/Blue
    Brown - Red/Yellow
Red 2 - According to my instructions goes to a red/black, medium wire.

The only red/black wire i can find is on the 12 pin plug on the right hand side of the control module, any idea what this controls??

Also im a bit worried about testing the black/blue wire as im think thats how i killed the module last time? not sure though....

Yet again the have their colours mixed up and it's Black wire with a Red strip needed. This wire will test as live when you unlock the car

To blow the unit up before did you not send a pulse up the Black/Blue wire?

The red/black wire is so that you can unlock your car and if the windows are still going up they will stop

Can't tell a lot from that picture

As long as when you test the wires you don't short them out or send pulses where you shouldn't then it will be ok mate
