    Blown Sub Or Amp?

    Hi folks,

Was pumping bass earlier before going into my house. I then got back into my car to run an errand, turned up the volume and realised my subs sounded no where near as good as they normally do. No where near as much bass as there normally is.

I then check all my wiring to see if it was ok, then realised when turning the volume on the headset all the way down, that my subs were both making a weird constant croaking sound as the best word to describe it?

They still pump bass (not much but still bass) when turning the volume up tho?!?

    Blown sub or amp?

    PLEASE HELP!

Note: Im using 2 x 12 DB AUDIO Raptor Subs, a 2000w Renegade Amp 4 channel amp (bridged), and an Alpine 9855r headunit.

I would hazard a guess at the amps, Renegade are not renowned for quality, whereas the DB Audio subs and Alpine head unit are both well made.

How is the amp installed - does it get hot? Try and test the subs using a different amp.

renegade realy overrate there amps so there probly putting out less than half of what the subs need so you turn it up and turn it up and bang your into clipping over a period of time it will kill them
if you push the cones in gently by hand do they scratch if so id guess you have cooked the coils

Yeh sounds like your amp could have blown or gone into safe mode as it were.
