    Fire! on the amp wire

Yesterday my amps stopped working. I done the usual and checked the connections on the amp and power cap. everything was fine.

Opened the bonnet to check the fuses and they burst into flames. As soon as the air got to them they went up.

luckily i had my fire extenguisher in the boot so theres no major damage. gonna have to take my car apart to fit amp wires, which will without doubt be a pain in the arse.

    heres sum pics

had a similar thing on the vectra - a wire was shorting thru a hole id made - the protective covering had worn causing the wire to touch metal. the wire got hot, got it just in time before the flames went up - first thing i did was take a pair of scissors to the wire to stop it getting any worse - certainly learnt my lesson from that point onwards with where to run wiring

Make sure your fuse is as close the the battery as possible next time mate, it may help stop that

I had a car in with "O" guage cable run from the battery, through the bulkhead with the fuse in the kickpanel and that was done by professionals

i agree that could be dangerous NAME AND SHAME

i always keep mine as short as posible the cable i have befor the fuse is about 8-10 inches

could have been a bad connection generating heat
