    coolant level

my coolant level warning pops on about once every two weeks, seems to be going down rapidly, but not visably onto the floor etc. i had the header tank and pipes replaced and also the rad was done not too long ago, but still have to top it up every 2 weeks. any ideas what could be wrong?

i have heard of the coolant sensor itself being faulty and it keep popping up every now and again. but if you say your having to top it up your obviously loosing it somewhere and other than the headgasket im not too sure where its going.

This was happening to me a while back and it turned out to be the water pump leaking so that along with the cambelt were changed under warranty.

the only other thing could be heater matrix in which case your footwells will be wet and smell of anti freeze inside but other than that they are a pain in the arse to bleed if you have rad etc changed if poss get a pressure check done on the header tank this will tell you 4 sure if you loosing it or just air in the systym

getting a similar problem myself but not so frequently. Water level is definitely dropping a bit. Will have to dig out the water pressure tester in my garage at the weekend

Snap, losing about 400-500ml over a 4-5 week period. No obvious sign of leak or head gasket problems. Occasional strong smell of anti freeze after a long run around the cambelt side of the engine (had a waterpump replaced 10 months ago under warranty by previous owner). Going back to ind dealer for this, erratic alarm, erratic steering wheel audio controls and reversing lights in a couple of weeks time.

another possible cause of coolant loss on the Zlet is a pipe running under the battery tray which may have chaffed through, may be worth a rummage in that area.
