i went last year, it was pretty good.

we went all inclusive, so we barely left the hotel...

when we did leave the hotel and went to the shopping centre type place in town there was alot of "you come in my shop" going on and "asda price" so just be a bit wary...

i wouldnt ride in the blue and white taxis though...

get your hotel to get u a decent taxi...

we did and we stuck with them, they gave me thier mobile number and let me text them when we needed them...

i would give you the number but i recently deleted it, having not been in egypt for 6 months, but your hotel should be able to sort you out with a decent taxi.

i'd take american dollars too for the most part as they are more accepted than the egyptian pound, and you get more for your dollar than the pound.

other than that i dunno what to say...

heres my pictures of the holiday:

not exactly alot of pics of the actual place...

the only shots outside of the hotel were inside the hard rock cafe...

    Hi Monolith,

Cheers for that mate, some good photos there! Looks good in the Hard Rock?

I take it the Blue and White taxi's are scary?? What are they, rust buckets?

Good info on the currency, do they prefer the dollor mate?

What hotel did you stay in, were booked in to the Sonesta Club if you know it?

we went to dreams vacation... it was a 4* i think with its sister hotel on the same land which was a 5* (dreams beach). we had free reign over both hotels with out wristband, but never went down to dreams beach...

the blue and white taxis were like old merc estates if i recall correctly... we never actually went in one, but the family you see me my bro and a friend with went in one once, and never again, they said it was like a white nuckle ride... eratic driving and just poorly maintained cars...

i think for the 7 seater fairly new air conditioned mpv we got daily it was like 2 egyptian pounds more (we took egyptian pounds not knowing any different). but we later found out that most places prefer dollars, and the casinos ONLY dealt with dollars... so my brother couldnt get in any casinos.

our friend who took dollars seemed to get a better deal on most things when it was worked out to exchange rates.

he never had a problem with dollars, even in the airport, but the only problem we had with egyptian pounds was at the casino. So its upto you on what you take i suppose... if i went again i'd probably use dollars.

the hard rock cafe was good, the beer was okay, but i mainly had milkshakes an stuff...

we went there twice, once in the daytime and looked at the stuff on the walls an stuff, then the second time we went the world cup was on and the place was rammed, but we got some good food there, and watched the match and half time they did a kinda performance thing with the staff from the cafe. its aimed more at families and stuff moreso than the rockers...

there was only really 3 things of interest to me in there... that was the batio guitar pictured, the caddy pictured and there was a faith no more guitar on the wall...

they did have a "signed" john lennon poster... but it wa obviously fake as the poster had the date of manufacture on it, and it was after the death of JL. makes u wonder about the rest of the stuff there...
