    mk4 keyfob problem

sorry if this is in the wrong thread?
ive got a problem on my keyfob, pulled it apart to change the battery and the battery thing has come apart from the mainboard (soldered in 2 places). is this repairable? ive noticed new keyfobs on ebay but rang the dealer today and they said it will cost £70 for a replacment and new fobs cant be programmed on? dont really want to pay £70 for a replacment if i can help it.

    thanks

Mine did the same thing, the leg that goes from the battery holder to the circuit board sheared. Its quite a common fault. You can just solder a new leg in place and it will work fine. Easy if you have any experiance with a soldering iron.

dont need to do any soldering shite mate, just fold up a pice of cardbord into a spring and place it above the battery. this will push the broken connector on2 the battery to make it work. it works for me, i broke 2 of the buggers and wasnt going to waste any more money on them, a bit too flimsey for my liking
really small and hard to read signature

Or you can use a bit of sponge.

If you can use a soldering iron do the job right......

You can apply solder ebtwene the two broen bits or terminal to re-make the joint.

It its totally come off i.e. both terminals have broke, can you do me a favour and have a look for a part number as you can eiher source a replacement coin cell battery holder or get one that has the same terminal layout but is designed better.

So if you can get me a part number I can do a search and try and find replacement holders then its just a case or re-soldering the new one back in place and its as good as new.

The probelm with the cardboard techniquie is it doesn't solve the problem as there could be an instance like I had before where I couldn't unlock the car with the fob to de-activate the alarm and I upset the neighbours.

    battery holder part number; 70105003
    battery type; cr2032

i tried shoving cardboard in and it didnt work
im not very good at soldering but will attempt it, cant be any worst off! it wouldnt be too bad if you could get to both the bits what need soldering, one is in quite a tricky place.

If i manage to fix it will vaux need to program it still? or if i buy a replacment fob from ebay would they need to program it in or is it possible to do this myself?

many thanks and hope everyone else gets there key sorted
