did you fit HID's? did the previous owner fit HID's?

If not, then they are definitely not, as only a very few GSi's had factory fit HID Xenon's. You may just have Xenon Bulbs (Halogen Bulbs with a Xenon ignition - which most Halogen bulbs are nowadays)

no im sure my astra does have HIDs, its got the smoked front lights you get standard, and when you look in the lights they have that circle bit inside like you get with audis, bmws, mercs etc and they are proper blue, when they turn on they are totally different to normal bulbs

plus i dont have the light level adjuster, its automatic. iit says in the manual cars fitted with the xenon lights dont have it

    wow - you're lucky!!!!

I think there's only 1 other member with factory fit HIDs on his Mk4.

You should also have head light washers then?

If you've got proper xenons... give Oddjob (ken) a nudge, he's retro fitted proper xenons to his astra G so will know what bulbs to fit... Proper xenon bulbs have differnet numbering like DS3,etc or something like that

Fairly sure it takes D2S bulbs....although I await confirmation from someone in the know.

Factory fitted Xenons have the front washer system in the bumper, they also have the automatic self leveling system fitted on the rear axle. They take D2S bulbs in the dipped beam and a normal H7 halogen bulb in the main. They are very easy to spot as firstly they only came in the sharkeye design, when you switch on the dip beam it should start fairly dull and then get brighter within 5-10 secs until it reaches maximum output.

The only thing that makes me think you can't have them is that they were never an option on the Sri, only the Gsi was given the option of upgrading them when purchased. Not even the SriT was given the option. The engine bay loom is different on the factory fitted version as well due to the different connectors fitted.

AFAIK only GsiFin has them fitted from the factory. Although I'm sure others have them but never mentioned them.

Check on the top of the headlight, it should clearly state it takes D2S bulbs on one of the mounting lugs IIRC.
