    Mk5 Wing Mirror Parts

Had my driver's side wing mirror clipped at the weekend, mirror is shattered and the black plastic bit on the underneath of the assembly is cracked so both need replacing. Electric mirror still operates side to side but seems that where the mirror is connected to the motor for up/down movement, has broken.

Anyone know off hand if the black plastic section can be bought seperate and how much? I did go in to local Vauxhall dealership, and they quoted me £235 to replace the whole assembly (!) but think that that I can just get away with replacing the mirror and black plastic bit...I hope!

£235 that is absululy sh*t, you could get some Steinmetz mirrors for £175 each, Im not 100% sure if you can change just that part but have you looked on e-bay for a second hand one. There was some up there th other week?

Yeah looked on Ebay, someone is selling a mirror assembly but without the covers plus it was collection only. Went back in to Stealership today to see if I could just get the black plastic bit, and was told no as the wing mirror only comes as a whole unit. Really don't wanna pay £235 when all I need is approx £70 worth of parts (mirror and lower cover), but lack of options means I might have to - have checked some local breakers yards - no Mk5 Astra though

Looking at the diagrams there is only a few parts,

Plastic peice between door and mirror. 3 versions. (3 dr, 5dr man , 5dr elec)

Then the main unit either manual or electric, the expensive part

The only sub parts for the mirror are,

    motor
    cover
    glass

So i looks like you will need to shell out for the whole unit they quoted for, otherwise check the scrappa.

The glass on both my wing mirrors in smashed and the driver's side cover is missing.

They have quoted - £90 odd for both bits of glass and about £40 for the cover - painted....

    £10 for non-painted.

Trip to the scrappie then I recon. Vaux's prices are silly on new cars.

Have you phoned LMF Vauxhall to see if they can help you out?
