    coupe or hatch?

Looking at getting myself a 1.8 astra but i cant decide whether I prefer the coupe or the hatch. What extras do you get on the coupe etc as from having a quick look around you seem to pay more for a coupe.

What would you choose and why?

    Cheers for reading Gavin

1.8 coupes usually seem to be cheap'ish to come by. I prefer coupe over hatch bodyshape any day of the week, but it will just come down to your personal taste. You will be able to pick up a hatch that does everything the coupe does.

As p_man said mate it all comes down to your taste. Also whats available in your price range will play a key benefactor too. With an astra (coupe or hatch) the exterior parts mostly fit all models so you'll never be stuck for choices, and also there are so many easy little subtle mods you can do to them.

    dont start this arguement again....

as said all comes down to your taste, if there was one better than the other they would have only made the one type, some people prefer the coupe some prefer the hatch, get whatever one you prefer

As above - it's all down to what you prefoer.

But give some consideration into what you want your car to do - things like whether you need flexibility of a hatchback or not.

I really dont know which i prefer :|Might just see what the best example that comes up is and go with that. Ive heard that the 1.8 hatches come with a different engine after a certain time though, is this true?

Definitely the best plan, go and look at some and find a good deal.

I've owned both shapes and I preffer the coupe personally, it felt more 'special' than the hatch with it's frameless doors, nice roof line and fully colour coded as std. Also the coupe is far rarer than a hatch about my way. Totally down to taste though, I know quite a lot of people arent' into the coupe.

If you get an SE2 coupe you'll get half leather and half alacantra seats, and 17" alloys, a hatch won't have either of them.

All boils down to what you prefer, i've owned both and prefer the coupe.
