Lightbulb New Keys - a bit confused!

Ok so confused may not be the right word but I'm a little stuck on this.

This is the current state of my spare key:

And if you take off the cable ties it looks like this:

So I've looked around and found a few threads on here and a bit of info through g00gle and such like but I'm still not sure so any help would be good...

I've been on fleabay and bought this:

it should be a "facelift" astra g key am I right?

my question as such is... As i've got the chip from my old key, if I can swap the blades over, or get another cut, do I still need it reprogrammed through Tech2 or can I just re-sync the key in the ignition the usual way?

Yup what Stu said. I have both an Astra G and a Corsa key on my keyring (my astra missus corsa). AFAIK there are only 2 variations of keys for the MK4. Remote central locking (as pictured) and a master key which is quite simply a key on its own no buttons.
    Its a jam thing

He said it should fit certain models astra/zafira/corsa and as its same size/shape blade as my current key, won't it still work?

Yeah, that's a VERY late Mk4 key you've bought. The remote locking won't work on your car, as it's a different system on the new key. Your little immobiliser chip probably won't fit either.

Your best bet is to order a replacement key blade from Vauxhall - then get the key cut at any key cutting place. Just attach that to your remote part off your old key and it should work.

The chip from mine fits nicely in the "new" key, but what do you mean by

    ?

As for swappnig the blade over, I already thought of that but the little bit where you put a screwdriver in to depress the catch and take the key apart is knackered. Hence the cable ties...
