Fitting cruise control to a Mk5 CDTi?

Work are getting me a new company car but I need an estate. Only the Elite model comes with cruise control as standard - but you can't get an estate Elite! The car will be nearly-new used not brand new so I don't fancy my chances finding a 1.7 or 1.9 "Design" with the cruise control option fitted.

Has anyone fitted it themselves? I gather it should be as 'simple' as getting the stalk and the switches for behind the pedals, then getting it activated in the ECU by a Tech 2.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

It was usually that simple on a MK4 but as yet i've not heard of someone doing this mod to a MK5

Hopefully some info will come out about it soon

if its a diesel then the clutch switch should be there
What is cross posting? Is it when you get angry and post it on a forum?

So you bought the stalk, fitted it, then took the car in to the dealer to say that it does't work and they're gonna 'fix' it under warranty cos they think it was installed as a factory option? I like that.... lol

So did you fit yours then pay for a Tech-2 session or do you have a friend in the right place?

Thanks for your replies Autosparks, I did some searching before I posted but couldn't find anything about the diesels.
