Can you actually paint pearlescent from a can?

    Hey Guys,

I am struggling to paint nocturno blue and I think its because its pearlescent. Is it actually possible to do it from a rattle can, or should I just leave it to a pro?

As answered in ur other thread Yes its no different paint pearlescent from a can than it is from a gun. Providing the paint match is correct then you'll still get a reasonably good result with the old rattle cans.

As I said in the other thread, get some rattlers from Vauxhall or find a decent paint stockist who can supply some slightly more generous sized cans than Vauxhall......

For others lookin.....I dont mean Halfrauds!

It seems to be a hard colour to get right. My front bumper is a perfect match to rest of the body if you look at it straight on or in the shade. But from an angle in direct sunlight there is too much pearl in it and it looks purple. That was sprayed professionally at a bodyshop.

you can get any paint mixed at halfruads, but you need to find someone who takes pride in mixing it.

I will be buying some soon to have a go at spraying rear corner splitters. Will buy the paint from vaux, but what primer should I use. Standard halfords primer or do vauxhall also sell primer in cans?

Halfords plastic primer will be perfectly up to the job for this application.
Just dont trust their mixing skills to paint the top coat (then again u already know this)

How big are the Vauxhall cans, would i be dreaming to try and do rear splitters + center console from the one can?

150ml cans (pack consists of 1 x colour & 1 x lacquer) considering you'll need a good few coats on each part I'd expect youd need about 2-3 sets.... coming in at £6.50 a set its not exactly cheap - although the colour match is spot on.
