As long as you disconnect it with the ignition on then it shouldn't cause any problems at all

If your going to disconnect it, just try cleaning the connections. Worked on mine. Another tip is to leave the alarm off for a period of time (a good excuse to go for a long drive )

Im new to this site so dont know whether this has been asked before:
Just bought a new power sounder for our Zafira GSi based on the threads posted on this site - very helpful thanks. Of all the times to go wrong, it started going bonkers outside the crematorium on Friday whilst we were at a funeral, oops!!
When I collected the new unit from Vauxhall they said I would need to have it programmed with the alarm / immobiliser codes otherwise it wouldnt work but after reading your advise you dont mention this. Are they just trying to con me out of 50 quid??

    In a word - Yes.

I've yet to come across one instance of a new power sounder needing to be Tech2 (programmed) to the car. Follow the How To, and it should be fine.

Welcome to Astra Sport BTW - I hope yo find it useful, and above all fun

I was under the impression that, if you disconnect the power sounder without having ignition on (e.g. if you forget to do so), the alarm needs to be reprogrammed.
