Oil Leek in engine and strong smell pls help

Had small amount of smoke for the engine bay...

theres oil coming from the oil temp senser, and oil on the left hand side of the engine.

now I cleaned up the oil on the engine and theres been no more come out...

but theres a strong smell of burning oil after I drive for any mount of time.
oh I checked the oil level its very high, but it normal level when I last look so cant think why it would be so high and thick!!!

Any ideas before I take it down the the fix-it shop tomoro for a look!

Straight answers pls no silly questions.

    many thanks

Buring oil will be the oil burning off your manifold at a guess. As for checking oil did you check when been standing for a while? Plus when did you last do an oil change?

I was maybe thinking that, as i couldnt clean off some parts of the oil... i hope that is the case... yep i checked the oil once it had been standing, which is why im worried bout it being high and thick...

as for the change vauxhall service once a year, so i would think it wud be done then?

Hi.... If the engine had been run and you topped it up to the correct level with referance to the dip stick then effectively when the engine cools down and all the oil drains back into the sump you'll notice an over filled sump. The only way for the engine to get rid of excessive oil is to burn it....
