    Question help!!!!!!!!!

    can anyone help? just bought a 52 reg astra 1.4. engine management light on, when plugged into diagnostic machine, i get told that my crankshaft sensor is faulty. when looked, not plugged in, when plugged in, car wont start, unplugged and it will start again. it will keep running if i plug it in after i start the car. car also wont go over 4000 revs. any help from anyone would be helpful. thanks

    Sounds like the sensor is faulty. When they become loose, faulty or taken off, the car goes into "get me home" mode. This restricts the engine upto around 4000 rpm as a temporary aid. If you replace the sensor it should be back to normal, (turning the key, ignition on then off a few times allows the software to check the system).

    Did you buy the car from a Car dealer or was it a private sale. If it was from a dealer that should be replaced under warrenty.
