    Engine Type

    1999 Astra G 1.8 16v Sport -

    Is this a Z18XE model?

If so, is this software upgrade worth the money?

Pre 2000 models will be X18XE1

So I doubt that particular upgrade would work - - - saying that all it is is a Remap - and any reputable tuner will be able to do this for roughly the same price and the same quoted power increase.

Personally Id be checking out the products of tuners which are locally to yourself - ie u dont wanna go all the way to Regal should a problem arise after its been tweaked. Id suggest Thorney Motorsport in Milton Keynes as a good alternative, Courtenay are obviously a name to consider but they are again quite far afield and TMS is more centrally located. Theres also Chipped UK which I believe is in Birmingham - also another one to consider.

As for whether the remap is worth the money - then YES .... but only if u have the required mods beforehand. Do a remap on a standard car and u wont reap as much benefits as if the car had uprated induction, exhaust etc etc fitted prior to re-mapping.

What mods have u already fitted?

I have a full cat back piper s/s system and carbon fibre forced induction system identical to the bmc cda!

Hopefully if I get the remap I should be running at around 150bhp I reckon, would it be worth it?

    Cheers.

For the small price of a remap then its gotta be a good thing in my books. Not just power as well - should see a nice healthy improvement in torque too.

Your best bet is to contact all the relevant tuners - see what they can offer and take it from there.

I've seen a totally standard X18XE1 pull well over 135hp on the rollers. If you've got a good one, the mods you mention should see you well towards 150hp.

    Class!

I just got in contact with Chipped UK, told them I got a quote from Regal for £250, and they said they'd match it! Mwuhahaha!

    Around +14bhp apparently!

    Beautiful.
