    60K Service

I have officially had enough of my VX dealership

Its time for the 60K service which I plan to do myself as i'm way out of warranty.

    The Plan (Its a 2001 1.6 btw):

    Oil & Oil Filter Change
    Fuel Filter Change
Brake fluid drain & replace - also fit 308mm discs and calipers
    Pollen Filter change
    Fan belt
    Check Anti freeze and adjust
Check Power Steering oil and adjust

    Whats not on the plan:

Spark Plugs - these were done 20K ago, in October 06
Air Filter Change - K&N may just clean
Cam belt - Last done 25k 04/05 will do at 80k

Got a couple of questions really.....

The car has been running GM 5W 30 Fully Synth oil since 20k I can't see any reason to change this - any suggestions?

    Am I doing enough!?!

All parts used will be genuine VX stuff..

As your in winter but coming rapidly into spring/summer then I'd be thinking 5W/40 semi synth. After talking through oil with oilman he told me that this would be the best for my car my driving style ect.

I'll PM you later with the full list of stuff to do and check. Which engine X16XE?

The fuel filter should be changed every 40k so it depends when it was last done.

Coolant may need replacing. Factory-fill and most aftermarket coolant was only good for 2 years but current factory-fill and good coolant is 5 years - easy to recognise as it's red.

    Key fob batteries?
    Wiper blades?
    Maintains:- Vectra Design 1.9CDTi
    Drives :- Hyundai Santa Fe

Coolant was done when i smashed my front end up (bout a year ago) so that should be cool (its red too )

Wiper blades were done about a month a go (Good old flat blades )

Key fob batteries were done at 37000 and so was the Fuel filter so it looks like I can wipe those off the list
