    Question Turbo Owners

    Hi guys / girls

My astra gsi is on 38k so thought i would ring my local vauxhall dealer to get a price for my cambelt, i rang the dealer i have used since i was 17, im now 23 , said can i have a quote for the cambelt please, they say £118 fitted i said what does this include, they said just the belt replacing so i said surey it will need cambelt, rollers, tentioner and water pump replacing they said no cause it is the first cambelt change, and they would not give me a price for the other bits cause they insisted that they where not needed

Any way thought i would ring the next nearest vauxhall garage to me for a quote, they said there is not kit for this engine so they had to get all the items separtley, which where Cambelt , Rollers and Tensioner again they said the water pump does not need doing but i said well can you just add the water pump to the quote which they did, came to £218.19 fitted which i thought was a good price

Any way am i right thinking that i need a New Cambelt, Rollers, Tensioners and water pump or do i need anything else??? or do i just need the belt???

sounds like a decent price to me, i think i paid £100 to get mine done but i didnt pay for any of the bits, cant remember how much the bits are i know a cambelt is £11.99

I have a good friend who is a vauxhall technician. When he did mine he changed the belt, rollers and tensioners. He also changed the pump too, but this doesn't need to be done until 80K. I can't see vauxhall not doing a kit.
    Hope this helps.

dont think they do a kit, there isnt one in the trade club book, think they only do kits for the more common engines?

I thought the reason you had to do the cam belt anyway was because of all the other bits rather than the belt snapping

looks like £218 is a good price for everything then, may as well have the water pump done just to be on the safe side.
