when you knock any bottle from underneath it throths up and goes crazy. I'm guessing when in that state it freezes at higher temps more easily. total speculation.

    Its been super cooled

Because the beer is "clean" there is nothing for the ice to form around, the knock on the table is enough to set it off

The same as taking water and superheating it in the microwave, then drop some sugar in (stay back) its quite violent :P

EDIT: Please dont try the boiling water thing... and if you do I accept no liability :P

It works with any beer. Have you never left a bottle of beer in the freezer a little too long, thought you had got away with it, opened it and it instantly turns to ice. I think Its to do with the pressure within the bottle. Like water boils at a lower temperature with altitude where pressure is reduced, I'm guessing that on the other end of the scale, it freezes at a lower temperature under higher pressure. Open the bottle and relase the pressure and hey presto, instand beer lolly. That dosent explain why banging the bottle triggers the effect, but i'd say Its to do with exciting the gas in the beer and again changing the pressure but surely that would increase it? Hmmm, not totaly sure.
