do they really dazzle other drivers? im thinking because the mk4/5 astra has clear headlight glass that they should be ok...
your thougths please
it all depends whether the headlights have a refractor to cover the tip of the bulb. Mk4 OE lamps dont so when Xenons are fitted they probably dazzle other road users as the light is penetrating directly outwards from the tip of the bulb...with no means of dispersing it.
On a daily basis I build approx 400 cars (not vx obviously) but all the Xenon equipped versions have that little cover over the end of the bulb to stop the dazzle effect whereas non xenon versions just have the normal bulb (already with a darkened tip) to prevent dazzle.
Therefore its not whether the headlight glass is "clear" its all depending on whether - when lookin directly into the headlights from the front u can see the tip of the bulb or a cover to prevent the bulb from dazzling...if that makes any sense!
Either way its already been discussed in Mikes thread above
PS: As a general rule of thumb AutoExpress = bollocks
missed that thread...just this morning aswell, oops
hmm i'll have a look on egay for ones with tips on the end
if u mean tips on the end of the xenons i think youll struggle - the refractor is usually built into the lens itself when OE xenons are fitted. Several ppl run them in std lights and pass MOTs but as Mike has said in the other post - this doesnt mean they arent dazzling ppl.
What exactly are u after? HIDs or headlight units themselves?
I've not had one person flash me since i fitted mine 2 months ago, that said however i am changing back to normal bulbs for the MOT next week just in case.
